Bible Text: John 3:16-19 and Isaiah 9:6-7

A Gift: When you call something a gift it should be:

·  Given voluntarily

·  Without payment in return

·  To show favour towards someone

·  A gift or Present is acquired without any particular effort by the recipient

·  A gift will meet a need in the life of the recipients

We are celebrating the remembrance of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, the gift of God the Father to mankind.

What is Embodied in this Gift of God to mankind?

1. The gift of God that was born out of LOVE (John 3:16): Our Lord and Saviour was born out of love to reconcile us to the Father.

2. The gift of God to humanity for SALVATION: Acts 4:12 And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among people by which we must be saved."

3. The gift of God to give PEACE: Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

4. The gift of God to give LIGHT in this darkened world: John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. ( Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path)

5. The gift of God to do WONDERS: Deuteronomy 26:8 And the LORD brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great terribleness, and with signs, and with wonders. Jeremiah 32:20 Which hast set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, even unto this day, and in Israel, and among other men; and hast made thee a name, as at this day; (God will make you a Wonder IJN).

6. The gift of God for COUNSEL: Proverbs 8:14-16 14 Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength. 15 By me king’s reign, and princes decree justice. 16 By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth. (Daniel and Solomon).

7. The gift of God for JUSTICE (Righteous, faithful): Psalm 89:14 Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face. Isaiah 45:21 Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? Who hath told it from that time? Have not I the LORD? And there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.

8.  The gift of God to give REST: Matthew 11:28-29: 28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

9. The gift of God to give LIFE: John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. He has come to give us a life that is rich and satisfying   Tell me who doesn’t want a gift that has all this characteristics, goodness and Blessings? Unfortunately some people has rejected Him.

Conclusion:

As I round up, James 1:17: Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

God the Father gave us His Best, His only begotten Son to reconcile us back to Him. As we go about in our merriments and celebration, I enjoined us to take a moment and reflect on where we stand with God. Let us remember that the main reason for this season of celebration is Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ said in Matthew 7:11: If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

In your asking brethren ask for the Comforter, ask for the in filing of the Holy Spirit. Seek tee first the kingdom of God and it’s righteousness. And all other things shall be added unto thee.
