Bible Text: Mark 3:13-15

Most of the Churches now a days are full of various believers who only go to Church to fulfill religious righteousness, but their heart is not with Jesus Christ. They wanted to show evidence that they are Christians, but lack a personal relationship with Christ. In the bible passage we read, we can see that Jesus wants a personal relationship with the disciples and He invited them to the mountain with Him.

The mountain is a secluded place where you can listen, converse as well as hear the voice of your maker without distractions. This is where Jesus often resorted to regularly to speak with His Father and His Father would revealed to Him what is His next assignment would be and that is the reason that He made mention in John 8:28, and said “….I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things”. We can see here that our God is interested in intimacy and when you are intimate with Him, He delegates responsibilities to you with full power.

Intimacy with God should be the number one priority in our lives. All mighty men and women of God had intimacy with Him. Such people that had an intimacy with God are Enoch, Abraham, Jacob, Moses and the disciples to mention but a few. Intimacy with God is vital to a fulfilling life and it can be sought in the following ways:

1. We should have a meeting place with God. You should set up your own tent of the meeting just as Moses establish in the wilderness in Exodus 33: 7. This could be a place in the corner of your home or outside your house which you can often retorted often to pray and commune with your maker. This place should serve as the secret place of the Most High God where you spend quality time with God daily. You get to know a person more intimately only as you spend more time with that person. It's the same with God. The more time we spend with God, the more we will get to know Him deeply and intimately. We read about Enoch in Genesis 5:24, how he walked with God in habitual fellowship. God was so pleased with Enoch that He just took him away without experiencing death.

2. You need to constantly cultivate the habit of worshipping God in the beauty of His Holiness. Habakkuk 1:13 says God is too Holy to behold iniquity. 1 Thessalonians 5:22 encourages us to flee every appearance of evil to avoid being entangled by them. The devil is always looking for ways to bring believers under bondages. Once you allow your garment of righteousness to be soiled with sin, it will be impossible to behold God in His Holiness. God is seeking worshippers according to John 4:21-24. The primary activity of Heaven is worship. Revelation 4: 8.

3. You need to become addicted to His Presence. There is nothing like the presence of God. There is no one like the Most High. The more you have Him, the more you want Him. Exodus 33: 11. In this passage, we can see Joshua, the assistant to Moses continue to linger in the presence of God. He was hungry to get even the crumbs of His presence.

4. You must know God's ways. In Psalm 103: 7, the bible says "God made His ways known to Moses and His acts to the children of Israel. We need to surrender to His ways and don't insist on doing things our own ways.

5. You need to seek His Glory. The Glory of God brings intimacy, signs and wonders. The more intimacy we have with God, the more of His Glory we shall experience. Moses experiences the glory of God to the extent that the skin of Moses’ face was shinning according to Exodus 34:29-35 that people were afraid to come near him.

In conclusion, the message of intimacy with God is a central message of the bible. The greatest commandment in the bible is the commandment to Love the Lord Your God with all your heart and mind and soul and strength. The Lord Jesus Christ Himself said that this is the greatest commandment in the bible. Intimacy with God should be the main reason that we live.

Let us pray!

I pray that the Lord himself will give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation to understand this message and not only that but that you will experience intimacy with God to such a degree that it will consume your life and that You will be a conduit to impart that same anointing of intimacy to many in the Body of Christ in Jesus Name.
