Bible Text: Isaiah 49: 14-16

 Definition:

Remembrance:

1.      To recall to the mind by an act or effort of memory.

2.      To think of again.

3.      To bear (a person) in mind as deserving a gift, reward, or fee.

Divine:

1.      Means pertaining to a god, especially the Supreme Being.

2.      Proceeding from God or a god.

NB: God could decide to remember an individual or a group of people.

·  God remembered Hannah: 1 Samuel 1:13-20

NB: 6 Her rival wife used to upset her and make her worry, for the Lord had not enabled her to have children. 7 Peninnah would behave this way year after year. Whenever Hannah went up to the Lord's house, Peninnah would upset her so that she would weep and refuse to eat.

13 Now Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken. 14 And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee. 15 And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD. 16 Count not thine handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief have I spoken hitherto. 17 Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast asked of him. 18 And she said, Let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad. 19 And they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before the LORD, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the LORD remembered her. 20 Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the LORD.

·  God remembered the Israelites (A group of people): Exodus 2:23-24 23 And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage. 24 God heard their groaning, God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob,

·  When God turned Captivity of Zion around. It was too good to be true, there was returned good fortune, they become the talk of nations.   Psalm 126.   1 When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.   2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them.   3 The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.   4 O Lord, restore our well-being, just as the streams in the arid south are replenished.   5 Those who shed tears as they plant will shout for joy when they reap the harvest.   6 The one who weeps as he walks along, carrying his bag of seed, will certainly come in with a shout of joy, carrying his sheaves of grain.

What Happens when God Remembers you?

1.        When God remembers you, you receive divine direction.

2.      You have new song, new testimonies, Joy and gladness: Jeremiah 33:11: Once again there will be sounds of joy and gladness and the glad celebrations of brides and grooms. Once again people will bring their thank offerings to the temple of the Lord and will say, "Give thanks to the Lord who rules over all. For the Lord is good and his unfailing love lasts forever." For I, the Lord, affirm that I will restore the land to what it was in days of old.'

3.      Sudden visitation, help rises, open heaven in a powerful way: Ezekiel 1:1: Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the river of Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.

4.      You escape calamities of life, everything that represents Shame and Reproach is gone: Barrenness turns to fruitfulness as we can see in the case of Hannah.

5.      You enjoy the Flood gate of his mercy (Lines will begin to fall in pleasant places for you): Ecclesiastes 11:3: “3 If the clouds are full of rain, they will empty themselves on the earth, and whether a tree falls to the south or to the north, the tree will lie wherever it falls”.

6.      Uncommon doors of opportunities are opened unto you. **Doors of God shocking testimonies. **God taking you to places you did not expect or never dreamt of going. Revelation 3:7-8:  "7 To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write the following: "This is the solemn pronouncement of the Holy One, the True One, who holds the key of David, who opens doors no one can shut, and shuts doors no one can open. 8 'I know your deeds. (Look! I have put in front of you an open door that no one can shut.) I know that you have little strength, but you have obeyed my word and have not denied my name”.

7.      Every opposition backfired: Psalm 7:15-16 “15 He digs a pit and then falls into the hole he has made.16 He becomes the victim of his own destructive plans and the violence he intended for others falls on his own head”.

8.      You become a candidate of testimonies, favour, glory: Ezekiel 17:24 “All the trees of the field will know that I am the Lord. I make the high tree low; I raise up the low tree. I make the green tree wither, and I make the dry tree sprout. I, the Lord, have spoken, and I will do it!'"

9.      Your defeat is turned to victory: Isaiah 58:8 “Then your light will shine like the sunrise; your restoration will quickly arrive; your godly behavior will go before you, and the Lord's splendor will be your rear guard”.
