Bible Text: Gen. 42: 36-38

In our Sermon of today in which we are Celebrating the Father’s Day around the World, let us not forget that no earthly father is greater and well to be celebrated more than our Dear Heavenly Father, the Father of all fathers, the Creator of Heaven and Earth, and all that dwell in it. According to James 1:17 the bible says that He is the Father of lights, with whom is no variable, neither shadow of turning. He is the Father that said in Genesis 1:3 that let there be light: and there was light. As we celebrate today, Father’s Day, we as a Church of Christ in this land of Barrie celebrated You our Dear Heavenly Father, the Jehovah God Almighty as revealed in Exodus 6:3

We bring to you our sacrificial offering in thanksgiving and worship unto you this morning, we thank you oh Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead and to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that faded not away, but reserved in heaven for us and has kept us by his power through faith unto Salvation ready to be revealed in the last days as it is written in 1 Peter 1:3-5. We honour you; we give all praises and glory be to your Holy name. Amen!

People of God, the father's love can not be compared at all. A father by its simple meaning is a man who exercises paternal care over other persons; paternal protector or provider. The bible in Joel 1:2-3 said that father is supposed to be head of his household and lead his family, his wife and children to God, and to make sure Jesus is in his household and is the most important in his household.

If we examined the text of the bible and read the entire story, we can see that Jacob was very protective of his children. A father serves as a covering or protector to his children. Despite Reuben the eldest son providing a guaranty in Genesis 42:37, he still refuses in Genesis 42:38 that Benjamin his son shall not go down with them to Egypt. Also in Genesis 38:11, Judah was very protective of Shelah his last born because he does not want him to die like his two brothers Er and Onan.

This is one of the characteristics of our Heavenly Father towards us His children. He is ever-ready to protect us from death in every situation in life.

We can see how he protected his children from sudden death. In 2 Samuel 21:15-17, we can see how the Heavenly Father uses Abishai, the son of Zeruiah to delivered David from being killed by a giant in the war front.

This is the same way that our Heavenly Father always protect us from dangerous situations that we may not even have any knowledge of that may be coming our way.

A father intercedes for his children in prayer. In Genesis 17:18-20, we can see when God was still promising Abram that He will still bear a son in his old age, instead he told God that Ishmael might live and God heard his prayer. We can compare it to how Jesus Christ also interceded for all believers in advance before he died in the John 17:9-11 and John 17:20 also.

A father has an everlasting or unconditional love for his children. In Genesis 21:9-12, we can see that despite the fact that Ishmael was born of a maidservant of Sarah (Abram's wife). Abram still loves his child with an everlasting love. Abram's countenance was changed when Sarah tells him to send Hagai and her son Ishmael away. Our Heavenly Father has loved us with an everlasting love according to Jeremiah 31:3 to the extent that in John 3:16 that the love, He God loved His entire creation made Him to send His only begotten Son Jesus into the world to die for the propitiation of our sins.

A father is compassionate to his children no matter what his children might have done to him. He will never say that because his children have committed an offense against him and said the children are no longer his. In the parable of the prodigal son, in Luke 15:17-22, we can see how the father ran to welcome his son back home again. This is exactly the same way that our Heavenly Father always rejoices for a sinner who repented of his sin. In the parable of the lost sheep in that same Luke 15:9-10, every repented sinner is celebrated by our Heavenly Father.

In conclusion, as we celebrate the Father’s Day, let's remember that Christ love us and gave his life as a ransom for us and it will be His joy if we his children will repent of our sins and forsake our evil ways and turn to Him for the forgiveness of our sins.

Is there anyone who will use this day of celebration of Father’s Day give his or her life to Christ to manage?

Let us pray!

I pray for anyone reading this sermon and purpose in his or her heart to make a final decision to accept Christ as His Lord and personal Saviour that from this time henceforth, that Jesus Christ will be in charge of your life and every step to take to become a fruitful Christians in the kingdom of God will be revealed to you. The God that makes Himself known to Paul through the abundance of revelation he received through Christ will also make Himself known to you and will continue guiding your steps in Jesus Name. Amen!
