Bible Text: Acts 2:37-47

When Jesus came into the world, his primary assignment was to reconcile human being back to God according to 2 Corinthians 5:18-19.

From the story of creation when Adam and Eve fell as a result of disobedience to the commandments of God. They lost the dominion given to them by God to dominate and subdue the earth. Then, God began a plan for redemption of mankind by sending of his only begotten Son into the world to make atonement with his blood and became the sin offering for our redemption. Jesus came into the world through the predeterminate counsel of God and spent 3 years to put the master plan of redemption in place.

This he did by choosing the twelve disciples to carry the gospel to all the nations according to Matthew 28:18-20. Do not let us forget that before Christ died, he told the disciples in John 14:16-18 that he will pray to the Father to give them another Comforter which is the Holy Spirit. In John 16:7, He again reiterated that there is need for Him to depart and that His departing is the only condition to pray the Father to send the Apostles the Holy Spirit.

The bible makes us to understand in Acts 1:3 that after Jesus’ death and resurrection, he was with them for 40 days and telling the disciples of the Kingdom of God, but instructed them in Acts 1:4 not to depart from Jerusalem but to wait for the promise of the Father, which he already promised them that He will pray to the Father to send them the Holy Spirit. He went further in Acts 1:8 and John 16:8-15 to let them know what the Holy Ghost will accomplish for them in the work he has given them in Matthew 28:19 to go and proclaim the gospel.

After the disciples obey their Master (Jesus Christ) to wait in Jerusalem to be endured with the Power, the bible recorded in Acts 2:1 that when the day of Pentecost was fully come that is on Pentecost day. God sent his Holy Spirit to the disciples as promised because according to Hebrews 6:18, that by two immutable things in which it was impossible for God to lie...

The birth of the church of Christ began on the day of Pentecost when Peter full of the Holy Ghost in Acts 2:14 stood up to address the crowd. Then the bible according to the text we read in Acts 2:37 said that when they heard the sermon gave by Peter, the crowd were pricked in their heart and said to Peter and the rest of the Apostles what shall we do? And he told them in Acts 2:38 to repent and be baptised everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. And in Acts 2:41, the bible said that they that gladly received the word that Peter spoke to them and were baptised and that same day 3,000 (three thousand) souls were added unto them.

The question now, is what then is the purpose of Christ Church established on Pentecost day?

1.         The Church of Christ is to seek and save the lost souls according to Mark 16:15-16.

2.         The Church of Christ is to liberate souls from captivity of the devil according to Mark 16:17

3.         The Church of Christ is to heal those that are afflicted with diverse sicknesses and diseases according to Mark 16:18

4.         The Church of Christ is to wrought miracles, signs and wonders because Jesus Christ said in John 14:12 that greater works than those ones he did will we do.

Let us pray!

I pray for anyone that has sold his soul to the devil and looking for great deliverance to come back and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and personal Saviour, that the Almighty God in His infinite mercy will deliver you and your household in Jesus Name. You will be liberated from every entanglement that has held you bound to the kingdom of darkness in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen!
